occipital neuralgia

by Maggie
(Hamilton Canada)

I am a 75 year old female, in relatively good health. Five years ago I suddenly developed a pain in the back of my head and immediately thought the worst. My doctor, after probing my neck and head, diagnosed Occipital Neuralgia. Strangely, it occurs regularly every three months and lasts for about two weeks each time. Tylenol and heat relieves it. The regularity of the headache, Dec, March, June and Sept can almost be premarked on the calendar in advance. Any comments?

Occipital nerve blocks may also help and can prevent the headaches
