speaking fo rmy husband
by: Anonymous

he gose to sleep and wakes up with migrainrs every day 30 to 31 days a month. to me this is not not normal. has seen a nuerologist nothing she gave him seem to help... my first husband died of a brain abscess without warning. my husband now had so many mris and scat scans makes me wonder if thats to much radiation?

Answer

I understand your concerns..the MRI's are safe and I have not read of nor seen a patient with any problems after having these done. CT scans are different..those ARE radiation and should be held to a minimum. In other words if he goes to the ER for treatment and it is just a bad migraine, he probably does not need another CT scan of the brain.

If he is not seeing an actual headache specialist he should..IV infusions would also help and I suspect he has not had these, only oral medications. What about Botox? We have had a lot of success with this for chronic migraine.

Good luck!
