Headaches and eyes hurt
Hi, I'm a 15 year old girl who for the past week have been having constant headaches, my eyes hurt when i look at bright lights or even at the sky and I've been having neck and jaw pain. I don't know if this is in any way connected but I've have pain in my back and stomach and sometimes feel numb. I'm really scared and have not seen a doctor yet but have spoken to my mum who suffers from migraines and she has said if it continues she will book me an appointment.
It sounds as if you are indeed having migraines. Since they are genetic most of the time we can say that this came from your mother (so you can blame her...OK?!)
It is common for younger patients to have abdominal pain with their migraines, lack of appetite during the headache and excessive worry. Anxiety is tied to migraine so that is where the "numbness" is coming from.
Neck and jaw pain can be the result of tensing your neck during the headache causing pain. It can also come from spasming due to too much studying which I commonly see in students.
Cheer up! The younger the brain, the better it responds to treatment. The majority of girls your age respond much better to lifestyle changes to control their migraines.
By the way, sometimes adolescent migraine is shorter than adult migraine. Adults may have the headache from 4-72 hours, and teens might be 2-6 hours. Still a migraine.
Talk to your mother about seeing the doctor. The longer you wait, the more frequent the headaches could become.
Best of luck!
