(St. George Brant Ontario Canada)
My name is Jeannette I am 42 yrs old and live in Canada. I am female. My symptoms are chronic headaches for over 6 months now. I have suffered from Migraines and headaches since I was 9yrs old. I have been on triptan medication which didn't go very well I ended up in emergency they thought I was having a stroke. I have tried amitriptyline, cyclobenzaprine, topimax, over the counter meds and homeopathic remedies. I am on sertraline 50mg once daily for depression. I am in desperate need for these to stop I have lost my job as a Pharmacy Technician due to time missed. I have had x-rays done on my neck recently and have a pinched nerve. I am miserable and I don't like to go out as smells trigger migraines for me too. Hopefully you will be able to advise me on what to do next.
Thank you Jeannette
Answer
You don't mention whether or not you are having a headache everyday. If so you would qualify for Botox. Other considerations would be a course of steroid for two weeks or occipital nerve blocks. We are having success in our clinic with all of the above.
