So how did you get a sinus infection or sinusitus as it is called? Well, usually, it starts with the common cold which is a virus. During the cold, inflammation of the tissues of the nasal cavities occurs. If the inflammation is severe enough, it closes off the sinuses and does not allow for proper drainage of mucus. Normally the sinuses are filled with air and if clogged with mucus, that allows for bacteria to grow.
What Is A Sinus Infection Symptom?
The following are symptoms to be aware of:- Yellowish green thick discharge
- Headache in the forehead and around the nose
- Nasal congestion and obstruction
- Post nasal drip
- Fever and/or chills

Treatment
After an examination, the diagnosis may be confirmed by X-rays or a CT of the sinuses. This does not, however, have to delay treatment if the diagnosis is clear cut. Most often, a short course of antibiotics will clear up the infection and your doctor will choose the most appropriate therapy for you. Generally treatment should be between 7-10 days if the infection is severe. Decongestants will also help in this case as will humidified air.
Remember, mild congestion is NOT necessarily a sinus infection. In fact, many people confuse this with migraine.
