Sex Headache Treatment

Treatment of a headache during sex is fairly easy. Once the more serious conditions have been ruled out, many people find that if they take an NSAID just before sex, it can prevent the headache.

Usually naprosyn or ibuprofen is sufficient.

If this doesn't work, beta-blockers such as inderal or a calcium channel blocker such as verapamil is your best bet to prevent these headaches. Most of the time the medication can be taken for a few months and then stopped and usually the headaches do not return.

Try not to worry too much about headaches during sex, but remember to talk to your provider as you don't want to be the one with something nasty!
