Headache Resolutions: 2008
As you enter the New Year, what are your headache resolutions?
By this I mean are you going to live the same headache lifestyle or make some changes?
Some questions to answer as you start the year:
Do I work more hours than necessary?
Is my home life stable and if not, why?
Do I realllyyy exercise three times a week for 1/2 hour? (and sweat?)
Is my diet full of processed foods, chemicals and little water?
Am I always looking for a quick cure for my problems in life?
Am I open to new ideas and thoughts about treatment?
Do I have what they call "an addictive personality"? (smoking, drinking, over use or abuse of drugs?)

No matter how much you want it, pills alone just don't solve the problem of chronic headaches and migraines.
Make a committment to yourself this year:
Put yourself first!
If you put yourself first, you may begin to slow down a bit, handle stress better and MAYBE...less headaches!
I know this may sound trivial but it really it true. Those who handle stress better, learn to slow down and enjoy life, have less headaches overall.
Start the New Year by
keeping a headache diary.
Once you have the diary, keep a record of your headaches for at least 90 days. Try to find patterns in your headaches, what was happening in your life when they were particularly bad?
Pay attention to what might be
a headache trigger,
and try to eliminate or reduce these triggers in your life.
One of the biggest problems during the holidays and afterwards is depression. Apathy and sadness can greatly impact your headaches. Many times, with proper treatment of
depression and other mood problems,
a headache profile improves tremendously.
And don't forget that extra cup of coffee may trigger headaches.
Learn about caffeine and headache.
Many of the headache blogs are offering excellent points and tips about headaches. Some great information
can be found here at Somebody Heal Me.
I would invite you to make a commitment to yourself this year! Try to make those changes that will decrease your headaches.
