Headache over left eye

by Anonymous

My daughter complained about a headache over her left eye Monday, Tuesday fine, this a.m. dull headache, same spot. No other symptoms.

She is 10 yrs old, no other history.

She is healthy, active, good diet/sleep/exercise ratio. I suffer frequent migraines with IBS. Otherwise, no family history of problems.
Please advise, thank you!

Answer

Hi,
Although it would be very easy to say she might have had a little migraine, in truth you really can't tell. A new onset of a recurrent headache in a child this young is concerning. We do not automatically assume she is getting what you have, as headaches in children are actually a bit rare.

I would like you to call your pediatrician and have her checked out if this headache comes back again. Although I do not want to alarm you, very rarely a tumor in a child presents as a recurrent headache.

Good luck,
